Student Ministry

An introduction to our Student Ministry.

Student Ministry Philosophy

Our student ministry is based on a couple of key commitments.

First, we believe discipleship and training is the primary responsibility of parents. Because of this, part of our approach is to encourage, and equip parents to take the lead in this process. This does not mean we don’t have any part in their spiritual formation. However, we know that our words will likely fall on deaf ears if Biblical truth isn’t being reinforced at home.

Second, we believe that a large factor in the huge “drop-out” rate (i.e. young people who grow up in church but stop attending after they graduate) is a faulty approach to student ministry that emphasizes activities and programs and that isolates students from the rest of the church. Though we have lots of fun activities, our primary focus is on teaching and training young people and helping them to transition into adulthood with a strong and biblically rooted faith that will stand whatever tests they may face in the future.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. John 15:4
